About the role

The role leads and develops Digital strategy and execution planning to drive the strategic prioritisation of technology products whilst leading the development and implementation of the directorates strategic planning framework and investment planning. This role has ownership of the department's Digital Strategy and its ongoing benefits management and realisation.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with an innovation mindset that has an equal amount of experience building technology strategies and creating execution plans aligned with program and project delivery portfolios. You will have recent experience using analytical tools to assess the performance of digital strategies and make informed decisions based on data insights.

The successful candidate will have experience operating in a large, complex organisation where you have developed strategies and worked collaboratively to formulate execution plans over a 3-5 year road map. It will be desirable to have previous experience managing technology investment portfolio and planning, aligning to priorities and roadmaps. You will be the Digital Storyteller for the department, simplifying technical complexities into business-friendly narratives showing how technology is enabling the visions and goals of the broader department.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Proven experience developing ICT strategic planning solutions and working with technical specialists, operational teams, and cross functional teams.

Demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in the management of a large complex organisation.

Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education, business, management, social sciences or communications, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.

Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

Commitment to understanding the needs of users and creating digital experiences that enhance engagement and learning

Experience monitoring industry trends and technology strategies to inform decision-making that drive continual service improvement and digital uplift across the department
Experience developing digital strategy execution plans and associated roadmaps that speak to outcomes that can be brought back to our plan for public education, training services and early childhood

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC’s validity (up to 5 years).
