The Opportunity:

We at Orchard are currently on the lookout for a talented Lead Frontend Developer with awesome JavaScript, HTML & CSS skills to enhance our development team. Your key functions will range from leading project implementations, managing direct reports, driving technology improvements, and supporting client relations.

Essential Skills:

Our ideal candidate will be expected to comfortably work in a fast-paced agency environment and be able to provide technical insights/outcomes on creative solutions.

Here’s the list to tick off against:

HTML5, CSS3 (solid) are expected to be at the expert level.
The ability to write concise and functional vanilla JavaScript (solid) without the use of a library
Git mastery
Understanding of task runners and bundlers (e.g. Grunt, (preferred), Gulp, Webpack)
CSS pre-processor: Less (preferred)
Vue and some React
Underscore, Lodash
Browser compliance: IE, Firefox, Chrome and mobile devicesDemonstrated experience developing browser-compliant code
Experience Responsive CSS framework (Twitter Bootstrap preferred)
Integration integrating with third party APIs (e.g. Google Maps, Facebook, Instagram)
A strong understanding of SEO compliant mark-up and best practices(Understanding of SEO compliant markup)
An understanding of Accessibility (WAI-A) standards
Knowledge of HTML 5 banners and EDM template best practices and restrictions
Willingness to learn new frameworks and technologies
Ability to solve problems, and be solution focussed
Exceptional communication skills
Full working rights within Australia

Desirable Skills:

Strong demonstrated RequireJS
AngularVue or React
Experience with CI/CD pipelines
Experience in mobile hybrid applications (e.g. IONIC, PhoneGap)/frontend driven applications (e.g. Ionic, ReactNative)
WebGL experience Canvas, SVG (preferred)
