Purpose of role:
The Senior Technical Business Analyst is responsible for leading the analysis and design of IT solutions that align with the business needs and strategic goals. The role involves working closely with business stakeholders, consultants, and system implementors to elicit, document, and validate requirements, as well as to model current and future-state business processes. The role requires strong customer focus, analytical thinking, communication skills, and business acumen.
Responsibilities include:
- Gather and analyse data, identify business needs, evaluate potential solutions, and articulate the benefits, costs, risks, and feasibility of proposed initiatives to support the documenting of a clear and compelling business case document.
- Lead and facilitate workshops and interviews with business stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and prioritise business requirements and success criteria.
- Collaborate with project managers, solution architects, developers, testers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of the proposed solution with the business needs and objectives.
- Clearly communicating goals, expectations, and feedback to foster alignment and focus within the team.
- Document and communicate business requirements using various artefacts, such as business requirement documents, use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, data models, and wireframes.
- Review and validate solution design and functional specifications to ensure they meet the business requirements and adhere to best practices and standards.
- Support testing activities by providing input to test plans, test cases, and test scripts, as well as performing user acceptance testing and defect management.
- Provide input and support to change management stakeholder activities such as communications, training to business users and system administrators on the delivered solution and its benefits.
- Supervise the delivery of work to meet business requirements and ensure that success criteria are achieved.
- Ensure that detailed scope and requirements controls are followed to manage scope creep and follow the agreed process for change requests.
- Document the approach for tracking business requirements to ensure all requirements are traced to the delivery of work and aligned with the agreed scope.
- Conduct business impact analysis and risk assessment for proposed changes and provide recommendations and mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and outcomes of the delivered solution and identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement.
Who are you?
- Elicitation: Demonstrated the process of gathering requirements from stakeholders, users, and customers through various techniques like interviews, surveys, user personas, and use cases.
- Analysis: Once the requirements are gathered, can analyse them for validity and feasibility. Ambiguities, if any, have been clarified with stakeholders.
- Documentation: Know how requirements are documented and then managed with stakeholders.
- Validation: Can work with stakeholders to validate the requirements to ensure that they are in line with the expected outcome of the project.
- Traceability: Know how to implement traceability to ensure that each requirement is linked to its source and tracks its progress throughout the project lifecycle. Understands what impact analysis is when any requirement changes.
- Change Management: Knows how requirements may change during the project. Can manage these changes effectively to minimise impact on the project timeline and cost is a critical part of requirements management.
- Communication: Is an effective communicator who can ensure that everyone involved in the project is on the same page regarding the requirements and any changes to them.
