About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Solutions Architect with payments domain experience to join our engineering team here at Tyro. In this role you'll ensure architectural integrity and consistency in the services supporting Tyro’s Payments roadmap. You'll have the opportunity to develop solutions for innovative new products and features, while driving the technology strategy. You won’t need to worry about an extensive legacy stack but rather focus on our modular architecture that is supported by our strong engineering teams.
What you'll do:
- Provide architectural guidance for the domain's technology landscape, including defining and maintaining technology strategies and roadmaps.
- Drive and contribute to solution design for domain-impacting initiatives through analysis, system modelling, technology selection, and proofs of concept.
- Validate solution design by engaging stakeholders and analysing solution’s, ensuring they are fit-for-purpose whilst considering security and risk-mitigation controls.
- Collaborate with architects and tech leads to balance domain and enterprise architectural concerns, ensuring alignment with Tyro's Engineering and Architectural Principles.
- Support teams with technical solutions, leveraging Tyro’s cloud-hosted application platform and AWS native services, while meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Facilitate collaboration between parties to enable pragmatic design and solution delivery, contributing to business architecture activities.
- Enhance Tyro’s architecture and engineering practices through continuous improvement, self-learning, and knowledge sharing.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience as a technology leader in a collaborative, Agile, in-house product development environment.
- Experience in Payments or similar domains with critical performance and regulatory criteria, such as APRA standards, payments and scheme compliance.
- Expertise in working with distributed systems on a hybrid technology landscape, including microservice architectures and a mix of off-the-shelf and bespoke systems.
- Proficiency with public cloud providers (AWS), developing cloud-native services, and containerised applications.
- Strong knowledge of IT governance, operations, and systems thinking, with the ability to design pragmatic solutions considering various constraints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Even better if:
- Experience with merchant acquiring back office processes– including merchant onboarding, merchant/terminal configuration, clearing/settlements, accounting/reconciliation, billing/invoicing.
- Experience with Australian payments and acquiring landscape and eco-system – including acquirers, aggregators, gateways and regulators.
- Experience with acquiring systems and payments transaction processing – including in-store and eCommerce solutions.
