The Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) is in place to realise a data-driven organisation for Commonwealth Bank Group. We do this by solving complex problems around data for the business and activating data for strategic and sustained competitive advantage to enhance the financial wellbeing of our customers in a safe, sound and secure way.
You will lead a team that will create, manage and optimise the data platforms used to power our entire business. You’ll have the opportunity to take responsibility for thought leadership, people management, capability uplift, continuous improvement, ensuring our crews are inspired to do the work that matters, and that our systems are simpler, faster and more secure to deliver outcomes!
We are seeking people who are:
- Ready to execute state-of-the-art coding practices, driving high quality outcomes to solve core business objectives and minimise risks.
- Natural leaders that drive a culture where quality, excellence and openness are championed.
- Good at identifying technology limitations and deficiencies in existing systems and associated platforms to develop scalable and sustainable long term solutions.
- Able to drive data transformational projects, creating a positive leadership impact within the crews by encouraging diversity of thoughts, to uplift the chapter’s overall technical capability.
- Comfortable working across the full lifecycle of agile projects (ideation through implementation).
- Experienced in implementation of data platforms at Enterprise level.
- Innovative in engineering solutions to large and complex problems.
- Highly experienced in design and development of Data Platforms and associated cloud technologies.
- Proven ability to provide both thought leadership and support with hands on engineering work.
- Demonstrated automation and self-service first approach to problems.
Tech skills:
We are driving a strategy of creating a best-in-class AWS based cloud-based data platform. We use a broad range of innovative tools and services to enable the data processing and access requirements of the CBA group with a key goal of enabling the utilisation of GenAI and other advanced data techniques across the business.
- People management experience with previous experience in playing leadership roles within data engineering chapter and a background of engineering experience.
- Expertise in leading and driving team of platform engineers utilising AWS services (EMR, Redshift, Glue among others) highly desirable.
- Proven experience working in financial services or similarly regulated industry with a strong risk mindset.
- Experience implementing large scale self-service enterprise data platforms highly desirable.
