About the Role
Are you a strategic leader passionate about delivering impactful IT programs and projects? At Macquarie University, our Information Technology (IT) division is a trusted partner in delivering innovative solutions that support the University’s education, research, and health missions. As the Head of IT Project Delivery, you will lead the planning, prioritisation, and execution of IT programs and projects across the University and its entities. Reporting to the Director of IT Transformation and Deputy Chief Information and Digital Officer, you will oversee an IT portfolio that aligns with our strategic objectives, enhances operational performance, and delivers measurable value. Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement IT portfolio management frameworks for effective decision-making.
- Oversee the delivery of large-scale IT programs and projects, ensuring timeliness, budget adherence, and quality outcomes.
- Lead a team of program managers, project managers, and delivery staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to align IT delivery with organisational goals.
- Implement robust governance practices, including risk management, resource planning, and financial tracking.
- Optimise resource allocation, promoting agile, hybrid, or traditional project delivery approaches as appropriate.
- Monitor portfolio health through metrics and KPIs, driving improvements and informed decision-making.
About You
You are a seasoned IT leader with a proven successful track record of delivering complex IT programs and portfolios in large, diverse and complex organisations. Your exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills enable you to inspire teams and build strong partnerships with clients and stakeholders.
Experience & Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in IT program and portfolio delivery, including large-scale projects.
- Expertise in implementing IT governance frameworks and aligning technology initiatives with business goals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience managing competing interests in complex environments.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in portfolio management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence) and professional certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, or SAFe (highly regarded).
