Why your Role Matters:
The portfolio of External Engagement is responsible for connecting the University with core stakeholders including philanthropists, alumni, government, volunteers, the media, and the broader community. It is made up of six collaborative and high performing teams: Strategic Communications, Development, Centre for Ideas, News and Content, External Engagement and Operations.
The News & Content Coordinator is responsible for creating compelling content and creative communications across a number of platforms to help the UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA) reach key audiences in a way that positions the university as a global leader in higher education and meets key strategic goals.
The role of the News & Content Coordinator supports the development of news, social media and multimedia content for the UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA) and UNSW News & Content team.
This position reports into the External Engagement Manager and works closely with the Social Media Assistant.
Accountabilities:
- Participate fully within the External Engagement Team, contributing to creating a respected and valued resource. Deliver a highly customer-focused service and demonstrate commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
- Provide support to the External Engagement Manager to deliver the agreed news and content strategies of the Division and University, across all forms of content, including video production and social media.
- Work closely with the University’s News and Content and Strategic Communications (including social media) teams to deliver the news and content initiatives locally.
- Contribute to the creation, coordination, and curation of all content for the team, across channels.
- Develop content for online engagement, collaborating with multiple stakeholders and managing execution through various digital channels.
- Create compelling content for priority social media platforms.
- Manage social media platforms, produce quarterly engagement reports, and source content from across the faculty and university.
- Contribute to the visual content production/editing process when necessary.
- Generate ideas and concepts for video, multimedia, and other content to achieve innovative results that increase engagement with UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA) audiences, applying judgement, creativity, and flexibility.
- Implement content for online engagement and manage the visual content production/editing process when necessary.
Skills and Experience:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proven expertise in content production and curation across most digital mediums including video and social media.
- Knowledge of best practice digital content including analytics and SEO.
- Experience pitching and placing stories in mainstream and specialist media.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder expectations to achieve successful outcomes.
- Impeccable attention to detail to ensure accuracy, consistency, and the ability to enhance and bring content to life.
- Understanding of target audiences, with an effective writing style and ability to deliver high-impact messaging to key audiences.
- Proven capacity to develop and implement media and broader communications strategies.
- Experience in social media channel management and measurement.
