The role
Merivale is on the lookout for a Systems Administrator, this role is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and continuous execution of administration processes for both on-premises and cloud environments. This role is a 12-month contract.
You will be responsible for:
- User Management: Administer and configure Microsoft Entra and Active Directory, including user and group management, role-based access control (RBAC), PIM and identity federation. Configure and enforce identity governance policies, multi-factor authentication (MFA), conditional access policies, and SSO (Single Sign-On). Support IAM initiatives.
- System Maintenance and Monitoring: Regularly monitoring, and troubleshoot server and system performance, and apply updates and patches using toolsets provided. SharePoint sites and manageability.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain system documentation and generate performance/activity reports.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide technical support to users and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
- Hardware and Software Management: Using tooling (e.g. Intune) to install, configure, maintain hardware/software on end devices. Investigate and remediate potential security vulnerabilities related to IAM processes and systems.
Ideally you have:
- 2 years in a System administration role, with previous experience in another IT role.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
- User Management: Proficient in identity and access management (IAM) tools such as Microsoft Entra, Universal Desktop, Intune, and Adaxes.
- Server Operating Systems: Proficient in administering Microsoft Windows Server and Linux (Ubuntu) environments.
- Cloud Platforms: Practical experience working with cloud services like Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
- Server Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with hyper-converged systems, SANs, standalone servers, and physical firewall appliances.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Solid experience using service desk ticketing systems like ManageEngine and knowledge of monitoring and operational support tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and Landesk.
