The Audience Growth team is focused on expanding and strengthening our connection with audiences across Australia and beyond. We drive subscriptions and audience revenue across our mastheads by using data-driven insights to optimise content distribution and enhance loyalty. By continuously innovating, we help maintain the brand strength of The Australian Financial Review, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, and The Brisbane Times as leading, trusted news sources.
We’re seeking an experienced, strategic Senior Manager Engagement Marketing to lead our Engagement Marketing team. This role is key to shaping and executing data-driven engagement strategies that retain and grow our subscriber base, ensuring they stay connected and invested throughout their journey with us.
You’ll oversee the development of engagement plans, manage cross-functional projects, and lead a talented team of marketing professionals, all while working closely with product and editorial teams to enhance the subscriber experience. This is a unique opportunity to influence audience strategy across all Publishing brands, driving loyalty and meaningful connections with our audience.
This position is a 12-month max-term contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Engagement Marketing team, setting KPIs and driving engagement initiatives that align with editorial priorities and brand values.
- Develop, manage, and update the Engagement Marketing roadmap, ensuring alignment with business and product objectives.
- Oversee major cross-masthead projects, collaborating with product and editorial teams to deliver impactful engagement strategies and marketing campaigns.
- Evaluate and optimise marcomms platforms to ensure they are maximised for all mastheads, enhancing communications, journeys, and personalisation efforts.
- Develop and implement strategies for engaging audiences at every stage of their lifecycle, from onboarding to retention.
- Manage the Engagement Marketing budget and resource allocation for ongoing projects and initiatives.
- Drive the development of a unified engagement framework, tracking key metrics and ensuring team goals are met effectively.
Qualifications
What we would like to see:
- Proven experience leading customer engagement, CRM, and lifecycle strategies, ideally in a publishing or digital environment.
- Strong understanding of the Publishing brands and their distinct customer journeys.
- Solid experience in using Salesforce Marketing Cloud and other marcomms platforms to drive audience engagement.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple teams and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical capabilities, with a knack for translating data into actionable insights and strategies.
- A confident and effective people manager with experience leading and motivating teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to share insights and drive collaboration across teams.
