The Account Director role is responsible for prospecting and closing sales in GumGum’s Market Leading Contextual Advertising platform. Reporting to the Managing Director, Japan, this role is responsible for developing key relationships within large and mid-size agencies with occasional managerial guidance on client calls. We require this role to work relatively autonomously while being supported by a cross-functional pre-sales team.
Account Directors have experience and deep knowledge of the online media landscape, and the advertising community and have 5+ years of digital media experience. The Account Director uses existing processes to solve a variety of challenging problems to deliver for clients. The role is required to apply independent judgment and discretion to select appropriate options from GumGum’s defined and proven products.
What You'll Achieve
- Drive revenue by managing a book of business, focusing on tier 1 Japan agencies.
- Identify and qualify leads from marketing channels.
- Generate high-volume sales activities, including cold calls, presentations, and client engagement.
- Upsell existing clients with new products
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with brands, agencies, and clients.
- Provide client insights to the internal product team.
- Collaborate internally to ensure successful implementation of proposals.
- Perform ad-hoc tasks as required.
Skills You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in media, marketing, or advertising, or a related field.
- 5+ years in digital advertising sales.
- Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets.
- Programmatic sales experience preferred.
- Strong relationships with ad agencies in Japan, including global holding companies.
- Proficient in SalesForce, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical and business acumen.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and adaptable team player.
- Native-level written and verbal communication skills in Japanese. Written and verbal communication skills in English a plus, but not required.
