Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. We’re Airtasker, the tech company that connects people who need to get things done with those who have the skills to do it.
Our mission is to empower people to realise the full value of their skills. This doesn’t just apply to those who use our product. It’s also for our whooooooole team of go-getters who bring the product to life and deliver impact to our community on a daily basis. Because we believe work (and life) is always better when you truly know and appreciate your strengths and skills.
So, with that in mind, we are looking for a new Senior Security Engineer to join our team of go-getters and realise the full value of their skills!

- Build and manage systems for security monitoring, alerting, and incident response, owning the security incident response process.
- Implement guardrails to prevent high-risk misconfigurations in production while allowing safe testing in non-production environments.
- Provide tooling, automation, and governance to empower product teams with observability, deployment pipelines, and secure access to resources.
- Plan and remediate the findings of externally performed security testing.
- Define and manage service-level objectives (SLOs) in collaboration with feature teams and support best practices throughout the SDLC.
- Improve platform performance, scalability, and security by working closely with architects and engineering teams.
- Build robust processes for emergency response and incident management to ensure platform availability and resilience.
- Train and support the engineering organisation in SecOps and SRE best practices, fostering a culture of operational and security excellence.
What it takes to be successful in the role:
- Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud infrastructure, networking, and security, including best practices for securing cloud environments.
- Experience managing, administering, and maintaining multiple Kubernetes clusters, with a focus on secure configurations.

- Industry experience in one or more of the following languages: Kotlin, C, C++, Java, Python, NodeJS, Go, or Ruby, with the ability to write secure, performant code.
- A first-principles approach to solving engineering and security challenges in complex, real-world systems.
- Systematic problem-solving skills, coupled with strong communication, a sense of ownership, and the drive to improve platform reliability and security.
- Ability to debug, optimise, and secure code, while automating routine operational and security tasks.
- Experience with system security, including monitoring, incident response, offensive testing, and remediating critical vulnerabilities.
- Familiarity with threat assessment tools and processes to continuously evaluate and improve platform security.
- A passion for enabling teams to build secure, reliable systems and fostering a culture of operational and security excellence.
