The Opportunity
Cochlear is looking for a Director - Global Manufacturing Operational Excellence to establish and lead the Manufacturing Operational Excellence function across our global network of manufacturing sites.
The Manufacturing Operational Excellence function is responsible for:
- Providing global governance and strategic oversight for the Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Training functions.
- Fostering a culture of lean and continuous improvement through the establishment and evolution of the Cochlear Manufacturing System (CMS).
- Supporting and enabling global sites to adopt and embed best practices through utilisation of the CMS, and through the coaching/mentoring of site-based Industrial Engineers.
This is a permanent full time role based in Cochlear’s Global Headquarters in Macquarie University.
Your responsibilities will include…
Establish, develop and coach team to meet current and future business needs.
- Develop and drive short to mid-term (1-3 years) department strategy.
- Lead, direct and control activities of a department to achieve the short and medium‐term financial and operating objectives set by the overall organization business plan.
- Set standards and pace for the implementation of change, improvement initiatives across the function.
- Influence/negotiate with others to accept complete proposals, practices and approaches.
- Ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.
- Collaborates and builds alignment with others to meet business goals and objectives.
About You:
Required Skills:
- 5+ years demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement programs within a complex manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to influence cultural change
- Ability to lead without authority
Desired Skills
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt / Master Black Belt
- Medical device manufacturing experience
- Experience working across global sites and functions
