About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate with critical thinking abilities to join our team. As part of the Research & Analysis team you will be member of a customer facing team that structures lending solutions for corporate customers. You will work closely with customers to understand their financial needs, analyse their financial data, and provide strategic recommendations. Through deep client / industry understanding underpinned by high quality analysis, the role helps capture valuable business opportunities and in identifying and effectively managing emerging risks.
You will be part of a fast-paced and dynamic working environment with lots of learning opportunities to develop deep knowledge of corporate finance fundamentals. You will be coaching junior analysts in the team and exercising your approval discretions on transactions.

What will your day look like?
The Senior Associate, Research & Analysis role works directly with the Client, Credit Risk Executive and Relationship Management team to complete the broader credit assessment function and ensure an optimal ‘well-managed’ portfolio. The portfolio covers a broad range of industry sectors comprising of large privately-owned companies, multinational subsidiaries and small/mid-size listed companies.
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Corporate Banking clients across a broad range of industries. This involves responsibility for identifying and effectively managing risks inherent in the client's business model, industry, capital & management structure, and historical & forecast financial performance. Client interaction relating to transaction execution and day-to-day account management is core to the position.
The primary activities of the role cover:
- Sound credit assessment including client performance evaluation, business model risk evaluation & mitigation strategies and proactive account management
- Development of credit strategy for organic growth opportunities, new-to-bank transactions and/or deteriorating credit profiles including deal structuring and execution
- Conducting financial modelling & analysis in tandem with client & industry research
- Liaise with clients and Credit Risk executives on risk and financial performance related matters, including covenant compliance and risk grade review events
- Liaise with Product Partners to appropriately implement customer solutions
- Exercise Credit Approval Discretion on lending decisions
- Proactive management of a well-managed portfolio
- Mentoring and coaching team members
What will you bring?
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have skills, knowledge and experience in the following:
- Demonstrated financial analysis skills going beyond traditional accounting-based analysis to provide deep industry insight
- Sound credit skills with the ability to identify key business drivers and mitigate key risks
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and provide actionable recommendations
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client engagements simultaneously with strong customer focus
- Experience in customer management and broad knowledge of banking processes and procedures
- Tertiary qualifications, preferably in Commerce, Business, Accounting or Economics
- Sound communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills
