The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exist for a Technician - Moulding to join our Manufacturing Support team in our Macquarie University global HQ! You'll be the first point of contact, working closely with our bespoke silicone injection moulding machines to troubleshoot and resolve issues on the production line while prioritizing business needs. You'll also support a small plastic moulding operation. Be part of a team that keeps operations running smoothly!
Responsibilities include:
- Mould tool installation and set up to ensure alignment of the moulds, all connections (hydraulic, electrical, and cooling) are properly configured to enable efficient production and high-quality output
- Mould tool changes, safely removing the existing mould, preparing the new mould, and installing it with precision
- Configure and adjust the moulding machines to the required settings for each production run
- Continuously monitor and fine-tune moulding settings to optimize production efficiency and product quality
- Conduct trials of new or modified mould tools to validate their performance
- Ensure that all moulding equipment is in good working condition and available for production
- Ensuring safe work practices throughout the moulding areas
- Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities
About You
As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Prior experience with troubleshooting and working with moulding machines in a manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills
- Proven experience in maintaining and repairing silicone injection moulding machines or similar equipment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations in a manufacturing environment.
- Follow safety and quality protocols (WHS & GMP)
- Flexible to work on either morning or afternoon shift, as well as some overtime (including weekends) if required.
- Certificate IV Polymer Technology (Injection Moulding) or equivalent (highly desirable)
- Experience in injection moulding in the medical device industry (highly desirable)
