The team is dedicated to the ownership and delivery of world-class technologies and practices that support the group's observability capability. This includes the technology that powers the processes within service management activities. As a Chapter Area Lead, the position will head all engineering within the Core Platform crews. The role is accountable for the way engineers manage and deliver the work supporting the practices and delivering the automation needed to enable the 10,000+ technology team members to perform their roles effectively.

Our Chapter Area Lead is
a leader of leaders focused on the management and development of Chapter Leads, designing the chapter capability roadmap and workforce plan, and collaborating with Crew & Centre of Expertise Leads to deliver on customer outcomes
.
As a Chapter Area lead for the Core Platforms Crew, you will be responsible for but not limited to:

Develop the strategic workforce plan (skillset and capability) to drive attraction and retention of talent
-
Build and lead a high performing team by ensuring the learning, development and growth of Chapter members to ensure delivery of business and customer outcomes.

Define and lead the capability uplift approach for the Chapter Area with a strong focus on Chapter Leads
-
Ensure consistency through standardisation of tooling and methodologies within Chapter Area continuously improving technical standards, processes and practices within Chapter Area.

Forster a positive people experience for all Chapter members by building culture, connection and community; Role models a culture of engineering empowerment, autonomy, psychological safety and constructive challenge.

Collaborates with Crew Leads to set trackable goals e.g. KPI/OMs that enable Crews to deliver on their strategy

Leverages metrics to inform continuous improvement opportunities that increase the effectiveness of the Chapter; seeks feedback to inform and leverage metrics

Facilitate the constructive resolution of conflicts which may arise both internally & externally to the Chapter
-
Collaborates across Chapter Areas to create a culture of sharing and learning and maintains technical experience commensurate with their specific Chapter
-
Contributes to Group Engineering Practice by coaching and mentoring and raising the bar for the discipline across the organisation
Skills and Experience
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We
don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

Experience leading large team in an enterprise environment

Experience consulting with senior executives
-
Experience with DevSecOps ; Background in software and platform engineering
-
Highly developed Leadership, people and communications skills; sound Financial control and reporting skills
-
Exposure across OTEL, Observability practices and technologies, ServiceNow and AWS
-
Familiar with Docker for containerization and deployment of applications
-
Grounded understanding in AWS or Azure Cloud architecture and integration, demonstrating experience in deploying and managing cloud-based solutions
