Why your role matters
We are seeking a Senior Business Consultant to play a pivotal role in the Student Information Systems (SIS) team. This role will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the SIMS ecosystem as well as a range of other core Student Services applications.
The Senior Business Consultant will collaborate closely with both business and technical stakeholders on a daily basis to ensure the maximum value and return on investment for the systems they manage. Additionally, the consultant will execute approved business delivery, support, and maintenance activities.
The role reports directly to the Student Information Systems Manager and does not involve managing direct reports.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Support the Head, Student Systems & Projects and the Product Manager to deliver and communicate on relevant aspects of the strategic vision, objectives and priorities of the Student Systems and Projects unit, including in the preparation of reports, papers or briefings for various purposes.
- Identify opportunities to improve the services and systems, and demonstrate a commitment to providing innovative solutions to improving the quality, efficiency and responsiveness of systems to changing strategic and business priorities.
- Develop, interpret and apply policy and procedures, including assessing impacts and risks, in relation to the systems and services under management.
- Provide quality support and advice regarding the effective use, capabilities and constraints of information management systems to inform prioritisation, delivery and maintenance activities.
About You:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and substantial experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven extensive experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst with a practical understanding of modern project management methodologies is highly advantageous.
- A high degree of awareness in domain area processes and information management systems is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to provide creative and innovative solutions to problems, analyse and improve systems and processes, and apply quality assurance frameworks into operations to deliver continuous improvement.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills and the proven ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
- A demonstrated high level of attention to detail, including in the development, interpretation and application of policy and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and demanding environment and deliver quality work against competing priorities and demands.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
