How will I help?
The
Solution Engineer Lead
role provides the technical expertise and dedicated technical focus
required to deliver on Westpac’s next generation technology
capabilities including data analytics, platform development, software
development, specialised application development, systems, and
processes.
Leading an impressive team of solution designers, this role will
support the delivery of their analytical, delivery and engineering
capabilities in an agile environment.
This exciting role is the intersection of analytics, design and
engineering disciplines, providing thought leadership and innovation
for data products and other solutions. The function is accountable
for the overall solution design of the extraction, transformation and
creation of analytically ready data, for use in descriptive,
diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics.
Additionally, the role is responsible for implementing divisional
engineering, governance and architectural standards across the Data
Platforms Customer team.
Responsibilities:

Providing leadership SME on analytical ready data to the analytics,
projects, systems and business teams.

Designing and implementing cross functional solutions that build
enterprise data products across multiple programs and engineer Data
Products across sourcing, design, data quality and placement to
maximise enterprise value and re-use.

Defining solutions across Azure Synapse Analytics / Teradata Data
Warehouse / ETL Tools (Informatica) / BI Tools (e.g. Tableau &
PowerBI).

Collaborating with Data Product Owners and Service Leads for
prioritisation, sizing and assessment of Data Products’ roadmap and
backlog.

Driving conformance of projects/programs to data product design
principles and standards promoting product design best practices,
principles, and standards.

Engaging diverse stakeholder groups to identify potential synergies
of data design across domains and source high value data for
enabling data products.

Guide Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support
technical solutions in full-stack development tools, technologies
and DevOps processes.

Maintaining communication channels and establish effective
relationships with senior management and their teams across all
business and Technology teams.

What do I need?
-
Advanced engineering experience in a large and complex
organisation within projects and/or delivery of business and
technology solutions, involving engineering of complex data
processes.

Highly developed enterprise grade Relational Database Management
Systems (Teradata/Oracle/SQL Server) experience covering data
modelling, database design and advanced SQL scripting.

Significant hands-on experience in technologies such as Hadoop,
Spark, Hive/Azure Synapse SQL, Python/Java/Scala, Git, Cosmos
DB/HBase, Streaming and API.

Extensive experience in data warehousing, modelling, integration
tools such as Informatica, Sterling and be familiar with business
intelligence tools such as IBM Cognos/TM1, Power BI, and Tableau.

Experience designing for cloud platforms, including serverless
architecture, preferably Azure, as well as experience with DevOps
pipelines, in particular Azure DevOps and Jenkins.

Experience in data analysis and modelling and Atlassian toolset of
JIRA, Confluence and BitBucket will be advantageous.
This role is part in the
UNITE
program which will be Westpac’s biggest transformation project ever.
