The Role
This role is part of the Paynow team which is responsible for customer online payment solutions and Health Services solutions for some of the major Australian financial institutions and related service partners.
In this role you will help develop and maintain client applications embedded in the financial institution terminals that underpins our healthcare platform. You will work in a multi-functional team responsible to develop new features and improve on existing experiences of our Healthcare products such as Health Claiming, support for payments and Afterpay, and in the process, contribute to one of our most important projects.
As an Android Engineer on the PayNow team you will be responsible for working on enterprise services that provide payments and healthcare solutions to some of Australia’s largest telecommunication and health services providers. This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer to take charge and make things happen.
You Will
- Build end-to-end features of the app: networking, persistence, business logic, and UI
- Own features and functions throughout their lifecycle from inception, rollout, launch, scale and iteration
- Fostering the use of agile practices for Software Delivery
- Work in cross-functional Product teams responsible for the discovery, delivery and validation of product features via microservices, APIs, web-apps
- Peer review design decisions, code, automated tests and documentation
- Participate in the ongoing design and architecture of our evolving our product and services
- Collaborate with product managers, experience designers & business stakeholders to build efficient and reliable feature implementations that will delight our customers
- Ensure that story estimates and code reviews are completed in a timely manner
- Build end-to-end features of the app: networking, persistence, business logic, and UI
- Craft durable, well-tested code with an unwavering commitment to product quality
- Invent thoughtful Android tech and open source it
- Re-architect legacy code and prep it to scale for the future of the product and the team
- Partner with fellow engineer and backend developers on delivering remarkable solutions
- Have a meaningful impact on the future of the Paynow product
You Have
- An understanding or familiarity with payment standards for card present transactions (using payment terminals) including AS2805 and ISO8583.
- An understanding of how to build testable, decoupled, maintainable code and other engineering best practices.
- a track record of working on Android payment terminals
- experience building Android & iOS Apps
- Android Architecture components
- Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin for development (we use both)
- Knowledge of health claiming, experience with EFTPOS terminal (payment) applications / EFTPOS terminal development (C/C++), or a working knowledge of such applications
- An interest and enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces and whatever’s in between.
- Experience building high availability and highly resilient systems which can accept and report claims and payments no matter the network or device conditions.
- Frontend experience using language e.g. REACT
- Google libraries: Lifecycle, ViewPager2, Flexbox vie
- Test automation and Continuous Integration & Delivery practices
- Experience with version control, preferably Git.
- A willingness to learn and apply new methodologies as required
