Residential Product Engineering Intern (Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide)
What to Expect
Join Tesla Energy's Product Engineering team and play a key role in ensuring the optimal performance of our residential energy products. As an intern, you will dive deep into fleet-wide data, troubleshoot issues, and develop solutions to enhance the customer experience. You'll collaborate with various teams, including field service, technical support, and software/firmware engineering, to identify and address challenges related to performance, operation, and maintenance.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and firmware issues impacting Tesla's Residential Energy customers.
- Determine the root cause of product failures and drive improvements through design, software/firmware, or manufacturing changes.
- Define and publish clear actions for field service and technical support teams to address specific failure modes.
- Provide expert support on escalated customer cases to minimize system downtime.
- Contribute to the creation of documentation and training materials for the commissioning, operation, repair, and service of Tesla's Residential Storage products.
- Develop internal software tools and dashboards to improve efficiency and reporting.
- Analyse fleet data and create insightful reports to track performance and identify trends.
What You’ll Bring
- Pursuing or graduated with a degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, with an understanding of firmware/software-enabled systems.
- Proactive problem-solver with a positive attitude and the ability to tackle complex challenges.
- Available for a full-time, 6-month internship.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with battery systems and power systems.
- Proficiency in Python or similar languages for data analysis on large datasets.
- Knowledge of CAN Bus communication.
- Familiarity with Linux-based applications.
