Job Description
The Australian Financial Review is looking for a creative, innovative and well-organised Art Director to work across lifestyle and magazines. The role is primarily responsible for the art direction of the AFR’s weekly lifestyle liftout, Life & Leisure, taking ownership of visual concepts which work in print and online. Additional responsibilities include art direction for the AFR’s quarterly gloss Fin! magazine.
In this role you will:
- Work closely with the Life & Leisure and Fin! Magazine editors and the editorial team to produce a quality liftout and magazine.
- Meet demanding weekly deadlines.
- Organise and direct cover shoots.
- Conduct extensive photo research to ensure all images are in keeping with the magazine's aesthetic.
Qualifications
What we would like to see:
- Strong print production skills, ideally with experience in magazines or lifestyle.
- A sophisticated eye for design and the ability to redesign pages when required.
- Ability to work autonomously and to deadline, within a team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and adaptability.
- Advanced working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
