Job Description
You will be part of a newly formed team within Group Financial Accounting that is responsible for the financial accounting of fixed assets, events and production.
In addition to financial accounting, we are centralising, standardising and improving our processes. A mindset of continuous improvement is key in this role.
Day to day you will:
- Oversee the management of the General Ledger (GL), ensuring proper posting of financial transactions in line with Australian Accounting Standards (AAS).
- Lead the month-end closing process for your area, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments and account reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Supervise the reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that financial results are aligned with operational activities and provide accurate variance analysis
- Ensure that strong internal controls are maintained over financial reporting, including adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to assess performance, providing actionable insights and implement best practices to increase efficiency and reduce risks.
- Prepare accurate financial reports, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets
- Collaborate with divisional Business Partners, to ensure that financial data accurately reflects business activities and supports decision-making.
- Act as a key point of contact for senior management and other departments
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Qualifications
What we would like to see:
- Demonstrated financial accounting experience in a group finance function working across multiple business units
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide actionable insights from financial data.
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software (Microsoft D365) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AAS)
- Attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to spot discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA/CA (or equivalent) qualification or in progress is required.
