The AA Lead Developer will be an accomplished Adobe Analytics Specialist that will take a strategic lead in developing, implementing, and optimising the UNSW Adobe Analytics and Adobe Launch implementation. They will possess a comprehensive understanding of current industry trends, coupled with advanced technical proficiency in designing, building, and customising analytics and tag management solutions. In addition, they will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data capture, analysis, and reporting across multiple digital properties - providing insights that drive critical business decisions. The Lead Developer will leverage the capabilities of software platforms and develop custom solutions for a wide variety of customers across UNSW. This role will work collaboratively with other Developers to provide support and guide tasks to deliver team objectives. The AA Lead Developer reports to the Digital Delivery Lead and has no direct reports. They will provide guidance and quality assurance on AA as well as be the primary developer liaising with business stakeholders.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Provide strategic leadership in developing, implementing, and optimizing UNSW’s Adobe Analytics and Adobe Launch platforms.
- Establish a robust framework for tracking, analysing, and enhancing customer journeys across digital channels, delivering actionable insights to stakeholders for continuous improvement.
- Ensure adherence to data governance standards by regularly auditing and optimising tag performance and data accuracy, enabling reliable insights and recommendations.
- Leverage the Adobe platform and Adobe Analytics (or Customer Journey Analytics) to map and analyse end-to-end customer interactions, identifying opportunities to improve user experience and drive key conversions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data collection, analysis, and reporting across multiple digital properties.
- Deliver real-time insights to support critical business decisions, such as campaign optimisation and timely responses to market dynamics.
- Partner with marketing, IT, and product development teams to translate analytics needs into technical specifications and ensure effective implementation.
- Provide development estimates and ensure accuracy by taking into account historical data, expert judgment, and risk assessments. • Validate data accuracy by quality-assuring tracking codes, data layers, and custom variables, while monitoring and addressing data discrepancies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to analytics implementation, such as incorrect tagging, data discrepancies, or JavaScript errors.
- Stay informed of industry trends and best practices in web analytics through continuous learning, participation in industry events, and engagement with thought leaders.
- Integrate Adobe Analytics with complementary systems (e.g., CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, and data warehouses) to ensure consistent and efficient data flow.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and partners to manage integrations, resolve issues, facilitate training, and stay updated on relevant advancements.
- Support A/B testing and other optimisation initiatives by configuring test infrastructures, monitoring metrics, and developing variations.
- Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards to meet business requirements and track website performance metrics.
- Document analytics implementation processes and contribute to the development of data governance policies and procedures.
- Train and support team members and stakeholders in using Adobe Analytics and Adobe Launch effectively, ensuring proper utilisation of the solutions.
Skills and Experience:
- 8+ years’ hands on experience in digital analytics with a strong focus on Adobe Analytics and Adobe Launch.
- Proficient in designing and implementing data layers for structured data collection.
- Experienced in setting up tracking for websites and mobile apps.
- Skilled in creating custom segments and reports.
- Adept at using debugging tools to troubleshoot and validate data collection
- Excellent understanding of Adobe Analytics APIs for data extraction and exposure to integrating with other Adobe Experience Cloud products and third-party tools.
- Good experience with A/B testing and optimisation tools.
- Strong experience in JavaScript (without the aid of frameworks / libraries), REST, SQL (including ETL) as well as basic use of XML, HTML and CSS.
- Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI) is preferred.
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- Good understanding of business marketing & capabilities.
- Knowledge of other Adobe products, including Adobe Target and Adobe Audience Manager, is preferred.
- Experience in Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) and Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) is highly preferred.
- Certifications in Adobe Analytics or Adobe Launch is preferred.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Proven ability to apply analytical skills and conceptual thinking to the analysis, design, and implementation of complex and specialised solutions.
- Demonstrated experience working with Agile delivery methodologies and working in an Agile environment (Scrum / Kanban) using a delivery management tool such as JIRA.
- A professional and responsible attitude to the delivery of high-quality customer outcomes.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
