The Opportunity
The role will report directly to our VP Commercial with the aim to partner closely with the business, leverage financial data to drive decision-making and play a pivotal role in enabling sustainable business growth.
What you’ll be doing
- Commercial Analysis: Analysis of revenue by product and customer, margin analysis, inventory, and understanding of unit economics to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for optimisation.
- Performance Reporting: Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and providing actionable insights to business stakeholders. Leveraging data to drive continuous improvement and enhancing reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Planning and Forecasting: Working with business stakeholders and the wider finance team to develop annual budgets and long-term plans in collaboration with business stakeholders, and providing ongoing forecasts to inform strategic adjustments.
- Investment Analysis: Building business cases and managing economic models to support investment decisions, tracking benefits, and ensuring they are incorporated into plans and forecasts.
- Cost Analysis: Managing and reviewing financial performance of operations, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Customer Experience Impact: Analysis of financial data to assess the cost-benefit of customer experience initiatives.
The ideal toolbox
- Qualified accountant with at least 5+ years of experience in commercial finance roles
- Strong commercial and finance business partnering skills in retail, with experience in supporting the merchandising and/or supply chain teams
- Proficiency in data visualisation tools (preferably Looker studio) and experience working with large data sets is a plus
- Advanced financial modelling skills, in particular MS Excel and Google Sheets
- Problem solving and analytical skills, including the ability to identify issues, deliver insights and suggest solutions
- Proactive with a ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to learn new things, and comfort with rapidly changing priorities

Role location
We believe that building connections and collaborating as Pet Circlers is super important. So this role is based in Sydney with a hybrid arrangement of 3 days per week in our pet friendly offices (your pet might love coming to the office even more than you). This could change in line with business requirements.
