Government Technology Platforms (GTP) forms part of Digital NSW and delivers core and common digital capabilities and infrastructure solutions including cross sector leadership across NSW Government underpinned by the Digital Government Strategy.
The opportunity
We are excited to be inviting applications for the opportunity of Associate Director Systems Capability for Government Technology Platforms, within Digital NSW as it transforms to become the state's trusted partner to enable accessible and secure digital platforms and services for the citizens and business of NSW.
In this role, you will provide technical capability leadership to develop, iterate and improve all-of-government platform and products to continuously deliver value aligned to government priorities. You will optimise chapter digital technical capability, mitigate risks, and improves the effectiveness and reliability of government services in an agile environment through effective learning and development.
Day to Day Responsibilities
-
Oversee engineering execution, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, and manage risks, blockers, and dependencies.

Drive technical strategy and excellence, working with architects to maintain scalability, manage tech debt, and improve system performance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, UX, Leadership) to align technical and product goals, ensuring seamless integration.

Mentor Senior Managers and drive talent development, fostering a high-performance culture focused on innovation and accountability.

Implement process improvements, optimise CI/CD pipelines, and ensure compliance with governance, security, and regulatory standards.
What you will bring to this role
-
Proven experience in driving continuous improvement of strategic digital delivery capability, creating fit-for-purpose, reusable platforms and products aligned with government strategies.
-
Experience in acting a delegate for senior leadership to champion initiatives that maximise the value of all-of-government platforms and services.
-
Proven experience in developing integrated digital capabilities to deliver diverse services efficiently, ensuring outcomes align with customer and business objectives.
-
Proven experience in refining systems and processes for robust monitoring, reporting, and progress tracking against strategic plans.
-
Demonstrated experience in leading high-level negotiations and partnerships across NSW Government Agencies to influence optimal service delivery.
-
Proven experience in coaching and develop skilled teams in a scaled agile environment to foster innovation and continuous improvement.

Experience in monitoring and refining team performance through communities of practice, aligning operating models, and improving organizational health and delivery capability.

Extensive experience in a digital/ICT functional role including possessing deep technical knowledge and understanding of both legacy and emerging technologies

Demonstrated evidence of successfully developing and coaching technologists and engineers having hand-on coding experience in a variety of languages

Experience in delivering and improving complex, integrated ecosystems that incorporate legacy and modern technologies

Knowledge and experience in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to inspire high-performing teams.

Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and high-level negotiations.

Demonstrated experience in leading digital transformation initiatives in an agile environment.

Expertise in building and optimising scalable systems and processes for reusable digital services.
