Chapter Lead (Engineering Manager) – Software Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled Chapter Lead to join our fast-paced team. As a Chapter Lead, you’ll be providing expert advice relating to technology, solution design and architecture, people leadership and driving excellence in technical delivery as per group engineering practices and standards. You will bring a perfect blend of people management, technical expertise and will be responsible for shaping the evolution of technical squad through contribution to the technology strategy, quarterly crew memo, prioritise backlog, define delivery roadmap, and determine which problems to invest in solving.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop scalable solutions using wide tech stack. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a passion for building robust systems.

As a member of the Operations Technology (Ops Tech) division, you will contribute to the technology products and services we deliver, from architecture, technical design and coding to deployment to operation. Our Ops Tech products and services are leveraged across many Business Unit Platforms within the Bank to deliver industry-leading software.
The role is a hands-on people leader in the Workflow Crew, that builds workflow platforms for consumption by many Business Units.

Technical Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

Extensive experience in enterprise-level engineering.

Have a proven track record of leading high-performing engineering teams

Expertise with API specification, design, registration and tooling (e.g. Open API, Kong)

Experience in distributed, low latency environments.

Language orientation: Experience on C#, .NET Framework Core, essential. SOAP/REST APIs, Microservices and containerisation a plus. Node, Python and scripting knowledge useful

Soft skills: Excellent communication skills. Working experience with Agile methodologies.

Cloud: Experience on cloud migrations and deployment, with preference for Azure Cloud, and Power Platform

Artificial Intelligence: Experience in AI technologies, particularly around tooling enhancements will be valued.

Data engineering: expertise in building a data lake using real-time and near real-time services, along with data transformation, aggregation, and offering through API endpoints

CI/CD: expertise with usage and configuration of fully automated pipelines is useful. This includes GitHub Actions, Artifactory and Azure DevOps.

DevOps: Familiarity with DevOps-managed environments. Specifically, around observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, Promethius, PagerDuty)

Test Automation: Unit/Integration/Acceptance/Performance testing experience in API.

Security: Defence in depth, including identity management, encryption and public cloud security obligations

Databases: Relational databases (e.g. Postgres / Oracle), as well as data warehousing and No-SQL databases (MongoDB).

Familiarity in event-driven architectures (Kafka, MQ) and orchestration (Apache Camel, Temporal, MuleSoft)
